What it is
Swiss Open Data is a chat product over Switzerland’s official open government data. Users ask questions in plain language; the product queries the federal sources live and answers with inline charts, a choropleth map of the 26 cantons where relevant, and a systematic citation of every source used. A commercial product, built and operated by Digilac.
Who it’s for
Anyone who needs answers from Swiss public data without wrestling with statistical portals: journalists, analysts, public administrations, researchers, businesses evaluating locations or markets — and citizens who just want the number with its source.
What it does
- Connected sources: the Federal Statistical Office (hundreds of statistical tables and dataflows), MeteoSwiss (climate and forecasts), swisstopo (geodata, elevation), federal hydrology (river and lake levels), and Swiss public transport (journeys, departures) — queried live, not copied.
- Four languages end to end: FR / DE / IT / EN, including voice dictation of questions.
- Verifiable by design: every answer carries clickable source citations and the data license attribution — a legal obligation of the open-data terms, treated as a feature.
- Shareable: read-only links, Markdown and PDF export.
- A real product: accounts, subscriptions and credits, chat history, usage analytics, and LLM observability behind the scenes.
What it proves
Swiss Open Data is the standing demonstration behind our Applied AI services:
- Connecting AI to live systems through a clean integration layer — each data source is an independent provider module, the pattern we sell in AI Integration.
- Answers with cited sources over authoritative data — the discipline behind our Knowledge Assistant offer.
- Operating AI in production — multilingual UX, billing, observability, license governance — the credibility behind AI Platform & Product Development.
